Or it might be due to the lack of awareness on the part of your boss. He might not realize that there is a possible way of communicating with others in a more respectful and good way. What can be done in such a scenario is for your boss to attend a workshop or take personal coaching classes.
What you can do
One thing that you can do on your end to change the situation is to speak up about how his meanness is ruining the opportunity of having a great meeting that involves everyone and actually gets something done. Easier said than done, but if it works, everyone will be thanking you. It also depends on the type of person the boss is.
Another thing you could do is to avoid going to meetings in the first place. While that sounds like impossibility, another thing you can attempt is to simply ignore his behavior and get along with your own work.
